What is the Service User & Carer Research Group?

A friendly group of service users and carers interested in research that meets quarterly. The group was formed in late 2014 and provides the opportunity for service users and carers to get involved in different aspects of research as well as meet other people.

What are the aims of the group?

Broadly, the group’s aims and objectives include the promotion of service user and carer involvement in the activities of the Research and Innovation Department through:

  • Outreach and publicity; championing involvement throughout the research process

  • To be a resource providing service user and carer input to research and evaluation projects being developed across the Trust

  • To actively develop research or evaluation projects

  • To review various documents, procedures and materials

  • To build links with other research institutions and networks locally, regionally and nationally

What are some of the recent/current activities of the group?

  • Producing the content for the patient and public involvement page on the R&I website

  • Undertaking the initial scoping research for a potential project on relapse signatures

  • Representing the group at a summer symposium research event at Keele University and various Clinical Research Network events regionally.

Who can attend?

The current members come from a variety of backgrounds - all service users or carers with an interest in getting involved in research are welcome.

New members are welcome
